A wet room is a shower room that has no steps or thresholds. At Beyond The Level, we ensure that all floor coverings are slip-resistant. A wet room does not necessarily mean the entire room gets wet; we prefer to call it a wet area within the room. This solution not only makes it safer today but also future-proofs it for tomorrow.
Wet rooms are the ultimate solution for anyone with reduced mobility because they have no steps or thresholds, which eliminates tripping hazards. Wet rooms can also be particularly advantageous in smaller bathrooms because they maximize the available space, allowing the entire bathroom to be used more flexibly. At Beyond The Level, we always use a waterproof tanking kit to protect the building’s structure from water damage.
Yes, although some rooms present greater challenges than others. However, thanks to our extensive experience in this field, we have yet to encounter a room that we couldn’t convert into a level access wet room.
The specific design considerations for a wet room depend on the characteristics of the room and the individual needs of the customer. We can determine the best approach only after conducting a thorough assessment of the space. This assessment allows us to tailor the design to accommodate factors such as existing plumbing, room layout, waterproofing requirements, and any necessary accessibility features.
Both anti-slip vinyl flooring and anti-slip tiles are excellent choices for wet room flooring, each offering distinct advantages. Vinyl flooring is waterproof, slip-resistant, and provides a comfortable surface underfoot. It is also available in various styles and colours. Tiles, on the other hand, are highly durable, water-resistant, and at Beyond The Level, we recommend only anti-slip options. They offer endless design possibilities and can significantly enhance the aesthetic appeal of the room. The choice between vinyl and tiles ultimately depends on your specific needs, budget, and design preferences.
What is a wet room?
At Beyond The Level we try to avoid using the words ‘wet floor’ or ‘wet room’ as people seem to have preconceived ideas of something that will go wrong or leak. This is definitely NOT the case when installed correctly. The shower area is built on a 1 in 40 gradient which you will barely see or feel so there is never any build up of water. A wet floor is the ultimate in safety as there are no steps at all to get in or out the shower literally meaning you could drag your feet and have nothing to trip on.
We can finish the floor in two different ways either using non slip flooring which is a vinyl that comes in many different colors or by using tiles that have a slip resistant surface. Our wet floors come in a huge range of sizes and can be fitted with or without toughened safety glass screens depending on your wants and needs. Get in touch today and arrange your free no obligation home consultation to discuss the possibilities.
