Have you ever walked into a showroom full of different toilets and felt overwhelmed by all the choices? We get it. There are so many types – some are higher, some are lower, you’ve got wall-hung ones and then back-to-wall ones, just to name a few! How do you choose the right one and why does it matter?
If it’s difficult for you to sit down or stand up, having a toilet that’s too low can put more strain on your joints trying to stand up, too high increase your chances of losing balance or even falling. Choosing the right height helps you move safely and with less effort. Features like non-slip floors and grab bars near the toilet can also help prevent accidents.
Comfort is key, especially if moving around is tough or you simply enjoy taking your time in the bathroom. A higher toilet, known as a comfort-height toilet, can make sitting down and standing up easier on your joints and muscles. Also, options like soft-closing and heated seats can make your visits to the bathroom more pleasant.
Should you choose a wall-hung, close-coupled, or a back-to-wall toilet?
The differences can greatly affect your comfort and mobility. The height of a wall-hung toilet can be adjusted during the installation process, which we will discuss with you and decide before the installation. In contrast, close-coupled and back-to-wall toilets, which are mounted on the floor, are not adjustable. This could be a disadvantage if the fixed height does not meet your specific needs—either being too high or too low.
Adapting a toilet to accommodate specific needs can make it more accessible for you to use the bathroom. Choosing a design that fits well in your space and meets your needs helps maintain your independence and dignity.
Choosing the right features in your WC design can make it easier to use the bathroom. For example, in one of our recent projects, you can see that the push buttons are larger and easily accessible, and there’s more space around the toilet, reducing the effort needed to stand up or move around.
